[Homeward Bound]

In many postings, audios and videos I have done, I have talked to some degree about the Church of Spiritual Technology (“CST”). I’ve even covered some of this in both an ebook I have written and an affidavit I did some time ago.

From time to time postings pop up on different forums pushing some old conspiracy theories alleging that somehow CST is controlled by the IRS, other government agencies and/or by non scientologist attorneys as part of a covert take over of organized scientology.

I have tried to debunk those conspiracy theories from time to time in a number of postings. Should anyone want to read any of that, here are some links to them:

It occurred to me today that there is so much false information on the internet about CST (much of it coming from organized scientology in reports to the IRS or by people just speculating) that it might be worthwhile briefly laying out what was really behind CST.

Even most people working on different parts of the corporate reorganization then or in top management then did not have the full picture or the understanding of the background to show why CST was considered so important. The full truth was even kept from them, it was treated on a “need to know” basis and only a small handful of us had the whole picture.

To understand CST fully and why it is structured the way it is, one needs to understand several other things first:

1. CST is but a piece of an overall corporate plan and structure designed to hide who is really controlling organized scientology, designed to try to protect monetary and other assets from governments or other potential claimants and designed to allow select individuals to run organized scientology while making it appear that they are not, thus protecting them from legal liability;

2. CST was not an afterthought. Although it was incorporated some months after CSI was launched as the new “mother church” in organized scientology in December 1981, it was part of the planning from the start, worked on by many of the same attorneys that worked on CSI, RTC, FSO, the trusts and the rest of the corporate structure;

3. the same people who approved the rest of the corporate structure were the ones to approve of CST and the planning specific to CST;

4. while like the rest of the corporate structure a lot of paper trail was created to try to show it had its own corporate independence, CST was controlled by the one person who truly controlled the rest of organized scientology – David Miscavige;

5. the control of the intellectual property rights that ended up eventually in CST and RTC was not something developed from an arms length, negotiated agreement by separate parties. Rather the rights were seized covertly by David Miscavige and people who did his dirty work using forceful and brutal means not unlike how he seized control of all other sectors such as international management, the Guardian’s Office, the CMO, middle management, scientology reserves, Flag, the orgs, missions, businesses and every other sector.

Here is a posting telling of the first time I met David Miscavige, educated him on the legal matters and got approval of the whole overall corporate planning. I made a huge mistake teaching this to Miscavige who used it to brutalize and carry out other abuses on countless people. It is something I have been trying to make up for for years and is part of what I will be testifying about in courts soon:

There are countless examples of how organized scientology used corporate to hide the truth. I and others have told of David Miscavige seizing control of organized scientology through brutality. Check out this affidavit from Jesse Prince showing how Miscavige along with a big group of his goons brutalized and “caved in” Mary Sue Hubbard to seize control of Hubbard’s intellectual property rights from her shortly after Hubbard died in 1986. It was Miscavige who took these controls, not the IRS or anyone else. And it was this same type of brutality he used for taking control of the rest of organized scientology. And he lied about it later just like he lied about controlling the rest of organized scientology:

Forget the paper trails, the explanations to scientology staff/public and the submissions to the IRS and declarations Miscavige has made. You will not find the truth in any of them.

Here is a very simplified explanation of where CST fits in the overall picture of organized scientology by using an example of part of what it was designed to handle. To really get this you first need to understand much of what I tried to explain above. Basically that it’s a piece of a corporate structure designed to do the following through phony papers trails, misdirection and deception:

A. hide the truth of the central control of organized scientology being from David Miscavige;

B. protect Miscavige from legal responsibility for running organized scientology;

C. hide the assets of organized scientology from any and all governmental or private claimants;

D. at the same time allow organized scientology to be centrally controlled as held together by Miscavige using brutality and the unincorporated Sea Organization.

OK here is the example of where CST fits in and why it was thought that no one, even governments, could afford the time, manpower and money needed to take down the whole structure. Here is what an average damages claimant might have to go through, or so it was thought, to get to the assets of CST:

1. let’s say you are damaged in a local org (the Boston “church” of scientology as an example). You were promised that your eyesight and IQ would improve if you paid a bunch of money for auditing only to later find out it did not. That by the way is what happened in the Kristofferson suit covered in the example I gave above ( http://forums.whywep...827/#post295072 ). OK so lets’ say you sue and win a $10 million dollar judgment. First of all just imagine how many years that might take you and how much money you had to put into that case. But now it’s time for collection right?

2. Wrong. Boston org won’t have the money. Its real estate for its then new “ideal org” is probably heavily mortgaged or in the name of another company. Plus almost all of its funds have been siphoned off through all kinds of BS management bills, films payments, etc., etc. and is probably spread out into many trusts around the world. But let’s say you spend more millions and take another couple of years of litigation and you pierce a corporate veil showing that the mother church “CSI” really controlled Boston org and should be responsible for the judgment. Even if you could do this you would likely find much of CSI’s money in different trusts, some to RTC, you name it. Even if you somehow get the judgment against them you will never get the real assets of the intellectual property rights.

3. So now you sue trying to pierce another corporate veil to get the assets of RTC saying that it was Miscavige and RTC who really controlled everything. Now lets say you really want to hurt them and get even the trademarks of scientology. This would be hard to prove as there is tons of paper work that RTC does NOT run the orgs. That was CSI’s job and RTC only exists to see to the “purity” of the tech. Of course that is BS but they will make you pay a fortune to prove it and will have hundreds of documents and people to testify to support their lies. If by some miracle you had the years and millions to do this and got the judgment, you now could go for the trademarks.

4. Well this is where CST comes in. CST has a contract with RTC that says CST can get all rights to the trademarks back for just $100 should they be put at risk by RTC. So if RTC is about to lose a suit such as the one covered above, CST pulls the trademarks and licenses a new corporation to do what RTC was doing. And keeping CST completely away from any kind of management at all makes it extremely difficult to pierce corporate veils right up into CST in an example such as the above. One can argue that both CSI and RTC have legal responsibilities for controlling the Boston “church” but that’s a really tough argument when it comes to CST.

The litigants might have spent decades and millions of dollars to get the assets to end up with nothing substantial.

For years now one of the fears that attorneys have had about suing organized scientology is that even if they spent the fortune in time and money to win a big case, the “blue-chip” corporate shell game of organized scientology would likely prevent them from ever collecting the money.

Lastly, for anyone who made it this far (LOL), one funny thing is that back in 1975/early76 L Ron Hubbard actually assigned all the trademarks freely to the then management organizations over all the missions, the “churches” and even the Narconons and the education groups. I know as I personally got Hubbard’s approval for it, got the letters drafted which he signed and sent to them. In fact neither RTC nor CST should have any rights to at least the trademarks. But this was covered up and the documents seized and hidden as part of the creation of CST and RTC. Here’s a little post about it:

CST is a product of greed, of deception, misdirection, of fraud, of convert control, of abuse and force but make no mistake, it is a well planned out and important part of organized scientology. And it is controlled just like the rest of organized scientology is controlled.

I hope this makes sense to those reading this. There is so much that could be covered but I am trying to explain it as simply as possible.
