Hubbard evidently liked Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which he included for use with several drills on the scientology communication course. The authorship of that book belongs to Charles Dodgson, a mathematician, who used the nom de plume of Lewis Carroll.
Dodgson had a sexual attraction to a very underage girl by the name of Alice Liddell, the daughter of an Oxford University dean. Dodgson wrote that book for her.
As a parallel, one might wonder if Hubbard had an inordinate attraction to underage girls by employing them as "Commodore's Messengers" directly under his control on his ship called the Apollo. I did find another parallel that seems more substantial to me:
Hubbard wrote a policy on contests that I paraphrase here as "Scientology is the only game where everybody wins" and "in any contest held by an organization, everybody must receive a prize." On pages 34-35 of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, I found a quote in the episode where the Dodo set up a race in a circle; "However, when they had been running a half hour or so ... the Dodo suddenly called out "The race is over!" and they all crowded round it, panting and asking, "But who has won?"
This question the Dodo could not answer without a great deal of thought ... At last the Dodo said, "Everybody has won, and all must have prizes."
The only game where everybody wins
